Welcome to Learning for Charity! We are a club based out of the University of Ottawa, serving students of all levels in the community. Please read through this page for more details on what to expect from LFC tutoring.

WHY GET TUTORING?

  • If you need affordable help with any course work and want to support a great cause, an LFC Tutor is your best option.
  • ​Our goal at LFC is to offer affordable tutoring for students who need some extra help in their studies, all while generating funds to support pediatric research and the families of children at the Children’s Hospital in Ottawa, CHEO.
  • All of our volunteer tutors at LFC are university students who have excelled in their high school  studies, and are hard-working and motivated individuals.

How tutoring sessions are run

Once a session has been set up, it is recommended to send some content to the tutor and let them know exactly what to cover in the session. This enables the tutor to best prepare, and ensures the student will get the most out of the session! Once the session has begun, the tutor can help in many different ways, including :
  • Going over difficult to understand concepts
  • Going over practice problems/solutions
  • Offering tips to make learning easier
  • Guidance to complete labs or worksheets
  • Guidance to understand project objectives
  • Preparing you to succeed!
At the end of a session, the tutor will go through an end of session form with the student, and the student will e-transfer the LFC email. At this time, another session can be booked, or contact information can be shared to make booking future sessions simpler!
